StableFit banner: clients are ready to pay more for these coach skills

ACSM's 2026 fitness trends make it clear: clients want a coach who understands them, adapts the process, and helps them decide.

The full list is in the ACSM 2026 forecast. Below is which skills to build now.

1. Read the numbers, do not just collect them

The watch shows sleep, heart rate, HRV, VO2 max. The client looks at the numbers and thinks: "Okay. What do I do with this now?" That is where the coach is needed.

ACSM puts Data-Driven Technology in the 2026 top 10 and stresses interpretation - from HRV and sleep quality to other metrics - to adapt training and recovery. The skill is seeing a number and knowing what to do with it.

2. Work with the client's state, not only the body

A person may not come for "minus 5 kg". They may come because they want less stress, more energy, and to feel normal.

In the Exercise for Mental Health trend, ACSM cites a national survey: 78% of people who train named mental or emotional well-being as the main reason they work out. Talking, listening, noticing their state, and matching load to their life is part of the job.

3. Fit training to the client's life

Not everyone can or wants to live by Monday gym, Wednesday gym, Friday gym. Some have padel, yoga, a week on the road. Some can only train at home today.

The coach's value is helping the person stay active even when life does not follow the plan.

The more complex fitness gets, the less a coach who only demos exercises is worth. What matters more is how you work with data, the person, and their real life.

If you want to raise your rate - train more than exercise knowledge. Train the skills that help the client get more from your work.
