Why do clients quit training even when they get results?

StableFit banner: clients quitting training?

It seems logical: I want to lose weight → I lost weight → I am happy → I keep training.

But it can work in a completely different way.

A systematic review of 66 studies on motivation and physical activity confirms this.

Have you noticed why people come to you as a coach?

Often because of a concrete goal:

  • "I want to lose weight"
  • "I want to tone my body"
  • "I want to fit into my jeans again"

A concrete result works great as starter motivation.

The problem starts when the whole motivation is built on that. Because what happens next?

The person hits the goal - and no longer has the same reason to train.

Or they do not see results fast enough and think: "Maybe this is not for me."

In both cases training easily slides into the background.

So what keeps people in it for the long run? They have to like the process itself.

The feeling of strength, the satisfaction after a session, confidence, the sense that the body is getting stronger.

Sell the result. But help them fall in love with the process.

A client can come to you for minus 10 kg. And stay because they like how they feel, they feel stronger, and they enjoy the process.

That is why a good coach works not only on the client getting a result, but also on them wanting to continue.

Because a result can bring a client to you. Enjoying the process can keep them.

That is why client service matters.
