The secret principle of finding clients
You can post content every day, run ads and tell everyone what a great coach you are.
And you will still have few clients.
Because there is one thing people often forget:
It is not only how you look for clients. It is where you look for them.
Imagine you showed up to sell skis on the beach.
Lots of people. They may have money too. But they are not planning to buy skis right now.
It works roughly the same with clients.
Look for people where they already think about what you sell. Your audience should be somewhere next to your topic.
For example, you want to grow an online coaching offer for busy people.
You can just write: "Taking clients for online coaching." Or you can go where people from your audience already are:
- communities about productivity and work
- channels for entrepreneurs
- pages about work-life balance
- professional communities
- podcasts and blogs about health for people with office jobs
There people already talk about lack of time, sitting all day, fatigue and wanting to feel better.
Many coaches look for "people who need a coach." And that is almost everyone.
It is much more useful to ask a different question: "Where are the people who already want the result I help them get?"
You are not trying to convince a random person to start training.
You find those who already look for a solution, and you show up where they look for it.
So before the next ad launch, write down:
- Who is your client?
- What problem do they want to solve?
- Where do they read about this problem?
- Who do they follow?
- Which communities are they in?
- What events do they go to?
And only after that think about where to show your offer.
Because sometimes you do not need to find more people.
You just need to start looking for them in the right place.
